In making the choice to be married by a Celebrant in Australia , you are free to create the ceremony of your choice. Although there are a number of things that must be said during the ceremony to make your marriage a legal one, for the most part you have free reign over the style and content.
How Do I Choose?
Take some time to visualise your perfect wedding. Start making notes. It may be that your perfect wedding has nothing to do with tradition. In your imagining, where are you? who is there with you (besides your beloved)? how does it feel?
You may choose to have wedding with all the trappings – cars, flowers, cakes and flowing white gowns or you may visualise a completely different scenario. Run with your visualisation and see where it takes you – you might be pleasantly surprised.
In reality, the rules are – there are no rules! Ask one another “if you really had your choice, what would you like to see in the ceremony, what is important to you?”
Your celebrant can help you to incorporate your ideas, thoughts, dreams and wishes.
Casual, Relaxed & Cost Friendly
You might have all of your guests gather in your ideal location. It might be someone’s garden and during the party you simply get married. So easy, stress free and fun. If everyone brings a plate of food and maybe some flowers from their garden and even a bottle of wine, the whole event can be full of love, laughter and memories for very little outlay.
Traditional
This means something different to everyone of course. Your celebrant can assist you to weave your traditional elements throughout the ceremony.
If you cannot be married in your church, for example, you may like to bring elements of your religion into the ceremony. It may be in the form of a reading, a song or a prayer.
Once again, close your eyes and begin to imagine the perfect scenario for you. Let your own imagination help you to create your own dream wedding!
Adventurous
For some, the place they would like to be married is in the area they love to spend their time. It may be on a boat or plane, a ski resort or jumping out of a plane or deep sea diving. You may not find me present on some of these options!
Location, Location
Imagining your wedding to be in an exotic and exciting location can be great fun.
Given enough time to plan, your guests will be able to have a holiday at the same time.
Being married away from home does take careful planning but you will find people who can help create the perfect day, through your hotel or celebrant.
To find a celebrant in another state, just go online and look for sites that promote celebrants in Australia such as celebrante.com.au. You may then interview your choice by telephone. Most have a blog or website or facebook page to help you to make your choice.
Spiritual
There are so many ways to incorporate your spirituality into a wedding ceremony. bring your thoughts and ideas to your celebrant to create something special. This is something I love to help you with.
Period Weddings
Some people identify with a time in history and create a wedding in the in the clothing and trappings of a bygone era - eg medieval.
You really are only limited by your imagination!
As a celebrant, the most important aspect of any wedding ceremony is the sacred nature of the event.
It is in this moment in time that two people dedicate their lives to one another, a truly sacred moment in life’s journey.
I like to bring the sacred nature of the ceremony to the fore, to honour the courage that it takes to let love into your heart and then to commit your life to another.
A wedding ceremony can come to life with happiness, joy and love, with laughter and with tears.
A wedding ceremony can (and should) have soul.
